When you compare inkjet and laser printers, the upfront price tag of buying the unit is cheaper for inkjets. Inkjet printers also produce unquestionably good print outs. The ink used in inkjet printers are dye-based and pigmented. The former is suitable for single-colour printing, the latter is waterproof and resists fading. It’s good for colour printing. Inkjet cartridges are of 3 kinds – original equipment manufacturer (OEM), compatible, and remanufactured. OEM carry the brand name of the printer, are reliable, but exceeds the cost of the printer over time. Compatible ink cartridges are not manufactured by the OEM company, and can be unreliable. The last type, remanufactured cartridges, utilize the original cartridge after the ink runs out, and refills it. The last two cartridge types are considerably cheaper than OEM cartridges.
